Perfecto! You already know cómo to ask someone by el nombre: ¿Cómo te llamas? Next step would be to ask by age. Pero pay attention! Young people don’t care, but people over cuarenta prefer not to say it! 😅

¿Cuántos años tienes (tú)*? = Año means year, so this means literalmente “How many years do you have?”

(Yo) tengo treinta y siete años = I am 37 years old

What if we want to ask about a third person? Look at la lista de cuatro verbos at the beginning of the module. If you have already written them a couple of times, you won’t have problems.

Here we use the verb TENER (to have), un verbo muy importante en español that is used continuamente (continuously), so learn it well:

¿Cuántos años tiene (él/ella)? (Él/Ella) Tiene doce años

¿Cuántos años tiene Juan? Juan tiene veintidós años

¿Cuántos años tiene usted? Yo tengo cuarenta y siete años

En español it is not mandatory to put the subject in the sentence. As the verb is conjugated differently depending on the person, it does not matter si (if) the subject is not present, you will siempre (always) know it by the verb!
Example:
Tengo cuarenta y dos años (yo).
Es español (Él/Usted).
Tenemos 42 años (Nosotros).
